"If you have a library and a garden, you have everything you need." --Cicero
Soon, thanks to the efforts of dedicated volunteers, Augusta residents will be able to experience Cicero's library/garden dream. Even better, YOU can help make it come true.
The Reading Garden will be created in the current grassy area alongside the library. Volunteers will begin working on it this Saturday (May 31), and anyone who'd like to lend a hand (or a trowel) will be most welcome to join them.
The heavy dirt, sod, and rock moving will start around 9:00 a.m. Hardscaping and garden bed design will begin around 10:30. Granite, rocks, plants and mulch are being delivered throughout the week. Miscellaneous supplies and the garden designers will arrive Saturday morning. If you have shovels, gloves, garden rakes, or wheelbarrows, feel free to bring them so there are enough tools to go around.
We will be serving a hot dog/brat lunch around noon. Gordy's is supplying water for the volunteers and a portion of the lunch. We will set up a canopy to provide a little shade. Please bring a camp chair for lunch. Planting will begin after lunch.
Everyone is welcome to come for all or part of the day. If you would like to bring cookies/bars for the volunteers, you are welcome to do so. If you have any questions, please contact Mike or Andy at the number below.
